►Government to SUSPEND QUARANTINE for tourists entering PERU

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) on Thursday announced that the mandatory quarantine for travelers entering Peruvian territory will be suspended.

Minister Claudia Cornejo reported that said decision was made during the latest session of the Council of Ministers.

It comes in response to the slight decrease in the numbers of COVID-19 cases registered in the country.

Therefore, the Executive Branch also decided to suspend the PCR test requirement for travelling to national destinations.

However, the PCR test requirement will remain in force for those travelers and tourists who come to Peru from abroad.
Reactivation

Recently, the Executive Branch announced that it will launch a National Plan for the Reactivation of the Tourism Sector —two of whose main objectives are to develop and consolidate a range of sustainable destinations, as well as position Peru as a destination offering safe and first-class tourism products.

Likewise, the plan aims to improve competitiveness in the sector strengthening its institutional framework and public-private articulation, Cornejo reported on that occasion.

"This is a sector that has been greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In that sense, we have already developed a national strategy for the reactivation of the tourism sector," she explained.
